The West Harbour is looking for a talented WordPress Developer based in Vancouver, BC. You will be working full-time (40 hours per week) in a hybrid role – 2 days in-office per week.
Responsibilities
- Set up new projects locally in WordPress with proper settings and data structure (via Custom Post Types and ACF fields)
- Translate pixel-perfect Figma prototypes to custom themes based on our proprietary Tailwind boilerplate (using modern HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, PHP and Javascript)
- Build custom Gutenberg blocks for page sections based on our proprietary Tailwind boilerplate
- Testing websites in multiple browsers and on multiple devices
- Diagnosing and solving speed/performance issues
- Selecting, installing and working with 3rd party WordPress plugins where necessary
- Monthly performance and backend WordPress maintenance
Qualifications
- Very strong knowledge in clean HTML5 and responsive CSS3/SCSS
- Very strong knowledge of the WordPress backend and its PHP functions
- Strong knowledge of best practices for security, speed and website performance
- Knowledge of basic Figma utilities and functions in order to translate pixel-perfect designs
- Knowledge of Javascript
- Knowledge of GitHub and basic Terminal functions
- Nice to have: experience with Javascript animation libraries like GSAP
- Nice to have: experience with CSS frameworks like Tailwind and Bootstrap 5
- Nice to have: experience with React and Typescript
- Nice to have: experience with other CMS platforms like Shopify and Sanity (headless)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Full home setup with a portable machine
- You are an attentive listener who is able to take feedback well during in-person or on-screen reviews
- You enjoy working within a team environment
- You are able to be in regular communication and structure regular hours when working from home
